SAM SANDLER takes the Celebrity Challenge

Now 36 years old and a full time single dad Sam was Approaching 220 lbs and he was not happy with how he looked and more importantly how his weight was affecting his performances in his shows. Something had to be done he could not continue on the path of gaining weight. Not just for health reasons but as a full time single dad raising his now 8 year daughter by himself since she was 6 months old, he needed to make sure he would be around for years to come to see his little princess grow up.

How did this all begin you ask?  Well Dave Allen the head trainer at Pennsburg athletic center, who has worked with Sam on previous magic projects approached him and told him of the idea of showing others that they can live a healthy life without drugs and diet gimmicks. Dave’s idea would be just what the doctor ordered.

Week 1
Week 24

So how does Sam start losing weight and get on the healthy track: It began with understanding there are no diets but rather “smart choices”. Dave taught Sam about the types of food that help you and those that hurt you.

Such as learning not all wheat breads are really wheat bread.
It must say 100% stone ground wheat as the first ingredient. Sam says “Pepperidge Farm whole wheat taste the best of all the 6 brands I tried.”

The first smart choice was to go cold turkey on drinking soda. It has been 4 months since Sam has had a soda. The next step was to change his diet.
Not go on a diet
, but change his diet. This meant eating 5 five times a day* and each of the portions were smaller than a full size meal.

That was the first secret exposed –
Eat less more often.

Then there was the work out. Twice a week Sam would make the trip to Pennsburg Athletic Club complete with a full gym over 6 tennis courts, racquet ball courts, yoga and more. It would be in the gym Sam would spend most of his time with Trainer Dave as he pushed Sam to give him just one more rep! “The work outs are intense!” Sam says and he can be heard screaming and grunting as he works out.

“the Goal is to lose the weight slowly
over a course of time not over the weekend.”

With trainer Dave by his side Sam would learn what they meant when they said “no pain no gain”. In the beginning there was quite a bit of pain for Sam however after 2 weeks Sam lost his first pound. Over the course of 18 weeks Sam would lose one pound a week. Which is exactly the way Dave wanted it to be. Trainer Dave explains “the Goal is to lose the weight slowly over a course of time not over the weekend.” “This is why people gain the weight right back”. “it takes about 6 months for your body to adjust to the weight you lose. Your goal is to work hard for those 6 months and as you approach the time frame it will be easier for your body to help you keep the weight off.” Sam comments “its been 3 months for me and I tried eating a burger from a fast food joint and it really made me sick. I mean sick to my stomach. My body won’t let me put such junk in me any more. I just eat more Steak now!”

Sam says “having someone there to push me was the difference for me.” Finding someone that can go to the gym with you will be a great advantage to making big gains.

Tune in end of march to learn more and see the progress Sam is making.

“I have got to come up with a trick
